2 Peter‬ ‭3:9 Devotional

2 Peter‬ ‭3:9 Daily Devotional

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

‭‭‭‭– 2 Peter‬ ‭3:9

Observations:

This verse is about the second coming of Jesus and his restoration of the earth. People during this time must have been becoming restless thinking God was making his appearance again within their lifetimes. Peter is correcting those thoughts by saying God is never late. He isn’t slow. He’s patient in his return because he wants to save as many as possible.

Applications:

So what can we do? Talk to people about Jesus. Bring them into his fold. Don’t beat them upside the head with a Bible, though. Share in their life. Use your actions as well as your words to preach the gospel to your neighbors. The Lord isn’t slow in his blessings. He’s patiently trusting that you – that we – will do what he’s called us to do.

Prayer:

Give me the courage to reach out to my community with your love. I want to be a light to this world. When I am impatient with your promises, give me the patience to know that you are still working and you are never delayed. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
