Deuteronomy 7:9 Daily Devotional
The author is saying that there is no God besides the God of Israel. In the same breath, they write that God is faithful and he keeps his promises for those who love him.
This is an Old Testament promise, so it applies as it is to the people of Israel. However, for those of us in the New Covenant, we can replace “keep his commandments” with “love Jesus.” Jesus is the fulfillment of the commandments, so we please the Lord through our love for Jesus and for others. We can love Jesus by worshipping him and spending time with him daily.
Thank you for your faithfulness, God. I’m thankful for the promises that you keep and those that you will keep in the future. Help me to love you and others well; keep me within your will. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
