Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬ ‭Daily Devotional

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬

This is a part of the Old Testament that everyone in Israel would know. It’s something called the “shema.” It’s a prayer that everyone in ancient Israel would have prayed all the time – a declaration of commitment to the Lord, to love him with all their heart, soul, and strength.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬ Devotional Applications:

Jesus quotes this verse again in the gospels. Even without that, this verse still applies today. We should want to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and strength. We can do that by worshipping him (both in church and out of church), spending time with God daily, and giving our best in our relationships and at work.

Help me to love you with all my heart, soul, and strength. I give you every part of me knowing that you love me and have the best in mind for me. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
