2 Corinthians 12:9 Daily Devotional
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
– 2 Corinthians 12:9
This is another one of those things that just seems backward, but it’s how the kingdom of God works. God’s power is made perfect when we are weak. It’s backward, isn’t it? It feels like it should be in our strength that God’s goodness is made known, but no, it’s in our weakness that the fullness of God is realized. Because of that, we should boast about our weakness, since it’s in our weakness we receive Christ’s power.
I know this is difficult to do, but the application of this verse is to accept our weaknesses. When we’re weak, God is strong, and he gives us strength to do what he’s called us to do. That means we should rejoice because it’s in our weakness that his power is made perfect.
As uncomfortable as it is, Lord, I thank you for the areas I’m weak in. Let your power be made perfect in that weakness, and give me that strength so I can accomplish all that you’ve set out for me to do. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
