‭‭John‬ ‭13:14‬ Devotional

‭‭John‬ ‭13:14‬ Daily Devotional

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”

John‬ ‭13:14‬

‭‭John‬ ‭13:14‬ Devotional:

Jesus, God in flesh, Lord and teacher washes feet. He lowers himself to our level to serve us. Since Jesus lowered himself to my level, I can be sure that there is no one too mighty to serve another person. No matter someone’s position or status in society, they, too, are commanded by Jesus to serve.

There’s also no one so low they can’t be served. Judas Iscariot, Jesus’s betrayer, would’ve been present in this group, yet Jesus washed his feet, too. This tells me that Jesus’s command extends to those who may be considered my enemy.

‭‭John‬ ‭13:14‬ Devotional Applications:

We’re to serve others as Jesus serves us. Washing feet is just one example, but so is meeting other practical needs. It goes beyond “thoughts and prayers.”

Prayer:

Help me to recognize that I’m not better than anyone else. No one is beneath me and everyone is worthy of me serving them. Help me live out Jesus’ example in this verse and care for the people in my life.
