John 12:13 Devotional

John‬ ‭12:13‬ ‭Daily Devotional

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

John‬ ‭12:13

John 12:13 Devotional Observations:

Jesus is riding into Jerusalem on a colt, which is both a political and religious move. The crowds go crazy thinking this is how and when Jesus will cleanse the Temple and free them from Roman oppression, bringing them back to an independent state.

John 12:13 Devotional Applications:

Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises to us. We must realize, however, that fulfillment won’t necessarily look like we want it to. And when that’s the case, we can take that as an opportunity to realign our hearts to what the Lord is doing in our world. He’s interested in us serving others and giving generously.

Thank you for your sacrifice, Jesus. Even though things make not be as they appear, you are still in control of the situation. Your sacrifice was unexpected. It wasn’t how anyone thought we’d be made free, but here we are – free indeed. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
