Matthew 6:6 Devotional

Matthew 6:6 Daily Devotional

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6

Observations:

Jesus makes prayer a private matter. While praying in public is a good thing (Jesus did it), it’s important to form that private relationship with the Lord.

Applications:

Pray both publicly and privately. It’s hard to get to the intimate matters of the heart when you always pray in public. It’s also the surest way to develop an actual relationship with God. You don’t want to form a superficial relationship with Jesus, so take some time to get to really know him in prayer.

Prayer:

Help me to pray in private better. I may not have all the words and sometimes it feels awkward, but I know you care deeply for what I have to say and what I’m feeling. I don’t want to be empty of your Spirit, but fill me up to do the good works you’ve set before me. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
