Proverbs 18:10 Daily Devotional
One thing we can always count on from God is safety. According to the Proverb writer, the Lord is a place of refuge. He is a place where his people can run to him and be safe from harm.
“Rest” doesn’t feel like an application, but that’s what this verse is advocating. We need a place where we can rest and feel safe, and there’s no place like being with the Lord and resting in him. Here are just two ways you can rest in him:
Sabbath is simply a day off from working. You don’t have to be overly strict about this, as some people find some kinds of work relaxing. Just take time for yourself, rest, and spend time with God.
Silence and solitude
Take a few moment each day to sit in silence, listening for what God’s speaking to you. This can be hard in today’s fast-paced society, but it’s worth doing.
Father, thank you for the protection you provide. Help me to learn how to rest in your safety while allowing you to work in me. I run to you, and I only seek you. Show me more of you today. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
