Acts 2:38 Daily Devotional
Acts 2:38 Devotional Observations and Application:
Jesus told us to observe two specific religious ceremonies. One of those ceremonies was communion, and the second was baptism. Peter is reinforcing the baptism part here by encouraging everyone to get baptized in the name of Jesus because many may have already been baptized under someone else’s name, so he asks them to be baptized again. But ultimately, the purpose is to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which presents itself in many different ways.
Peter is offering us an application here: get baptized. If you aren’t a part of a church, find one that you like and get baptized there. Let this be a public declaration of your faith up to this point; you won’t regret it.
Father, thank you for baptism. Continue to develop me in our relationship far beyond baptism and the receiving of gifts, and help me to know you more. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
