How to Take a Leap of Faith [2 Timothy 1:7 Daily Devotional]
The Holy Spirit is not a spirit of timidity, but rather one that grants power. This means we can have confidence that God is working with us and for us to accomplish the things he set out for us to do. That same Spirit also gives us the ability to love and have self-discipline. Without love, we can’t be effective in anything. Without self-discipline, we can lose control of our lives and end up somewhere we don’t want to be. God gave us the Spirit with all of that because he loves us deeply.
How to Take a Leap of Faith:
The best way to apply this verse is to live life as if the verse were true. We do have the Holy Spirit living in us, which gives us the power to do things we might not otherwise be able to do. Take calculated risks – always weigh the options, but take leaps of faith. They may not always make sense, but if you’re following what the Lord is nudging you to do, he won’t fail you in that. If you’re loving people the way he loved people, he will give you the capacity to love more.
Thank you for your power that lives in me. Help me to use that power to help others, to love others, and to practice self-control. In scary or unknown situations, help me to tap into the confidence you give me through the Holy Spirit. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
