How to Respond to God’s Goodness [Psalms 8:3-4 Daily Devotional]

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

Psalms‬ ‭8:3-4‬‬

The psalmist is pointing out the big contrast between how big and mighty the Lord is and how small we are. They’re acknowledging that God, the creator of the universe, is not too consumed with his “heavens” to be “mindful” of us.

How to Respond to God’s Goodness:

The only proper response to this verse is worship. It’s true that God loves us and he cares for us. Though he created the universe and hung the stars and the moon, he cares deeply for us. It’s not something we deserve, and we can’t earn it, so worship God through music and prayer and through taking care of what he’s given us.

Prayer:

I thank you that you are mindful of me. You’re thinking about me and caring for me. No matter how often I mess up or lack the words to say, you are still there for me. Help me to worship you in response to your lovingkindness. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
