How to Live in Grace [Romans 8:39 Daily Devotional]
“…neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”– Romans 8:39
This is the end of a long list of things that can’t separate us from God. It’s a poetic way to write that nothing can ever separate us from the love God has for us through Jesus.
This verse doesn’t have much of an application, but it does challenge us to live in grace. Jesus died for us and rose again so we could be in a relationship with God, and as the Apostle Paul writes here, nothing could separate us from that. No matter what you do, God is always right there and he loves you. Be encouraged knowing that your standing with God has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Jesus’ sacrifice.
That may be difficult for some people. If that’s the case, I encourage you to pray and spend time with God as you learn to let go of your desire to control your standing with the Lord.
Jesus, thank you for your grace. Remind me each day that I don’t need to earn your love. Help me to rest knowing that nothing can separate me from your love. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
