How to Recognize God’s Goodness [Psalms 100:5 Daily Devotional]
“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”– Psalms 100:5
The Lord is and always will be good. There will never be a time where God isn’t good. Despite our circumstances, God is still good. We may not see it right away, but we will if we’re patient and persevere. We can learn how to recognize God’s goodness in all situations.
This verse is the result of someone else recognizing God’s goodness. Though resting in God’s goodness can sometimes be difficult if there’s a lot going on around you, recognizing how good he is can be a lot easier.
We can recognize his goodness through prayer. Spend some time with God each day and thank him for what he’s done and is doing in your life. If you’re having a hard time naming anything, pray for God to open your eyes to see what he’s doing.
Another way we can recognize his goodness is through a gratitude journal. I like this option because you can look back and see what you wrote in the past. I encourage you to find a notebook or use your notes apps and write 3 to 4 things your thankful for each day. You’ll quickly start to recognize God’s goodness even in the small things.
Father, thank you for your goodness. Help me to recognize it each day. When I can’t see what you’re doing in my life, give me the wisdom to perceive what you’re doing. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
