How to Trust [Isaiah 12:2 Daily Devotional]
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”
This verse encourages us to have faith in God. He is our salvation, strength, and defense. There’s nothing that can come against us because God is for us. Now we must simply learn how.
How to Trust
Trusting is not always easy, especially since we can’t really see God. The challenge, then, is how do we trust someone that we can’t see? There is no easy solution, but we can practice.
One way to learn to trust God is through prayer. Take time to pray to God about things you want or need, and then step back and let God work. He may or may not answer your prayer, but the process of releasing control will help you trust God.
Another way is by looking back at what God has already done in your life. It’s helpful if you keep a journal for this, too. If you keep track of how God has worked in your life and reflect on those things, it will help you to trust God in the future.
Thank you, Lord, that I don’t have to be afraid of what’s to come because you are my strength. You give me the ability to keep pressing forward even when things don’t look so great. Give me the ability and strength to continue to trust you as you work in and through me. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
