How to Have Faith [Hebrews 11:6 Daily Devotional]
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
What is this verse about?
The author of Hebrews is telling us that we need to have faith in order to please God. Otherwise, how could we come to him? If we don’t believe God is real, we wouldn’t be able to “earnestly seek him” and receive his reward of abundant life. This means it all starts with faith – that’s what makes serving and please God possible.
How to Have Faith
Faith is needed to please God, so it should now be obvious that you need to learn to have faith.
The best place you can start is by reading your Bible. First, seeing how God has worked in the past can give you confidence that he’s going to work in the present. You’ll also know that he will work in the future as well. As you continue to read about God’s faithfulness, I pray you’re encouraged to seek God for yourself.
As you develop your confidence in the Lord through reading the Bible and seeing what he’s done and what he’s promising to do, you’ll want to pray. Pray that the Lord would allow you to see what he’s doing in your life and to build up your confidence as you pursue him. But if you struggle with belief (we all do at times), ask God to help you through that.
Lastly, get involved with a church. Serving your local community is a great way to develop your faith, meet people, and deepen your relationship with God. All you need to do is find a church you like and start the process of getting plugged in.
Father, thank you for allowing me to seek you with all I am. Help me to see you moving in my life while I reflect on the things you’ve done in the past. Finally, give me the strength I need to pursue you and receive abundant life each day. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
