How to Trust in God [Hebrews 13:8 Daily Devotional]
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
What is this verse about?
The author of Hebrews is reminding us that Jesus doesn’t change. His character yesterday is the same today, and that character will never change. He’s a reliable and trustworthy source of hope, and he won’t let us down.
How to Trust in God
Because we know that Jesus will never change, you can be certain that you can trust in him fully. There are many ways you can trust in God, but here are a few ways to get you started.
- Pray. Prayer is simply talking to God. Knowing that he won’t change means you can come to him every day in prayer and expect a reliable listener. Pray for the things you need, but also pray for what you’re grateful for. God provides all you need, just as he provided for you before.
- Spend time with God. When you spend time with God, you get acquainted with his character more personally. Read your Bible a couple of times a week to start off. Read my devotionals, which are designed to help you grow in your relationship with Christ. Sit in silence and solitude. Listen to worship music. There are so many great ways to spend time with God, so do what works for you and reflect on the character of Jesus.
Jesus, thank you that you never change. I can come to you today and expect the same character you had yesterday. I can also come to you tomorrow knowing that nothing will have changed. Help me to pray and spend time with you so I may be more acquainted with your character. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
