Psalm 56:3 Daily Devotional [Trust in God]
What is Psalm 56:3 about?
This verse is a reminder of where we need to put our trust when we’re afraid. If you’re like me, you get afraid, nervous, or anxious fairly often. This short verse keeps us grounded in the Lord. It reminds us that no matter what our circumstances are, God is trustworthy.
Trust in God
God is trustworthy, so we need to figure out is how to trust God when we’re afraid. It can be difficult to trust God, especially in the midst of our fear. You can start by praying. Prayer helps you focus your mind on the Lord and allows you to speak aloud the thoughts swirling about in your brain. And you don’t need to just pray when things aren’t going well. In fact, you should pray in every season, good or bad. That will keep you in the practice of prayer for when fear comes to try and distract you.
Generosity is another way to trust God. Loosening money’s grip on your life will help you to trust God with your resources. Start by giving to your local church, who can be trusted to pool resources together to make an impact on your community. If you don’t trust your church to do that, have a meeting with the pastors to talk about your concerns. Generosity is that important.
Father, thank you that I can trust you. Help me to develop my trust in you through prayer and generosity. Give me the courage to look inside myself to see the areas where I don’t trust you fully, and help me to take the next steps to put my trust in you. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
