No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper [Isaiah 54:17 Devotional]

No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper [Isaiah 54:17 Daily Devotional]

“’…no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the Lord.”

Isaiah 54:17

What is Isaiah 54:17 about?

This verse is an Old Covenant promise to the people of Israel during the time of the prophet Isaiah. This particular promise is still in effect today. As we discussed in my devotional about spiritual warfare, we know that there’s more than just a war in the physical. This verse promises that no weapon or argument formed by the enemy will prosper against us. It’s because we’re children and servants of the Lord that we can receive this promise.

No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper

Be encouraged! You can know that this is true for you and that this is proof that the Lord has made you right in his eyes (that’s what vindication means here). Through Jesus’s sacrifice for us, we can know that the Lord has given us protection from the schemes of the enemy. He may not move like we want him to, and we may have to go through some difficult trials still, but we know all the same that God is protecting us.

The best application for this verse is to praise the Lord for this promise. Sing out in worship, spend time with him every day, pray for your needs as well as the needs of those around you, and serve the people in your community.

Prayer

Father, I thank you that you have made me righteous in your sight. Thank you for the protection you give me against the scheme of my spiritual enemy. Help me to always recognize the little moments where your protection is apparent. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
