How to Receive God’s Grace Daily [Psalm 85:2 Daily Devotional]
The psalmist is reflecting on the grace of God in this verse and it also looking forward to the time of Jesus. Back in the time this psalm was written, it was required to sacrifice animals in order to receive forgiveness from God. So while God did forgive people and covered their sins, it required a lot of work, ceremony, and bloodshed. Jesus, though, came to pay for our sins once and for all.
How to Receive God’s Grace Daily
According to the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:9, there are only two things for us to do in order to receive the grace he’s freely given. The first is to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. This means you need to believe with your brain. The second is to believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead. This means you need to believe with your heart.
Your faith takes both head and heart in order to be complete. If you have faith that’s more “head,” you’ll be stuck thinking rather than doing what Jesus commanded us to do. If you have faith that’s more “heart,” you’ll end up having a shallow faith where you don’t really know why you believe.
Jesus, thank you for your grace. Give me the wisdom to believe in my mind and the courage to believe in my heart that you are who you said you are. Help me to spread the message of your Gospel. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
