God is My Refuge [Psalm 119:114 Daily Devotional]
The person writing this psalm is confessing that the Lord alone is their protection. Despite what the world has to offer as a safe place, the truly safe space is with God. Because of this, the psalmist confidently puts their hope in God’s word. They know it will never fail them.
God is My Refuge
Just as the psalmist declares the Lord as their protection, you can, too. Trust the Lord to be your refuge – your protection from the things around you that want to declare war on your spirit. Trust God to be your shield – your protection in the everyday battles of your life. Put your hope in God’s word knowing that he’s faithful to fulfill his promises to you.
The beautiful thing about grace is that you don’t have to do anything to invoke this protection from God. This is not an if-then kind of relationship (if I do this, then God will do that). Prayer and worship, though, can help align you with what God wants for you, which is his perfect will for your life.
Jesus, thank you for being my protector. Give me the wisdom to rely on you in all the tough situations of my life. Help me to trust you and rely on you. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
