My Help Comes From the Lord [Psalm 121:2 Daily Devotional]

“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:2

The psalmist is writing a reminder to themselves about where their help comes from. Lucky for us, our help comes to us from the same source. It’s from the “Maker of heaven and earth,” God himself, that we are helped and saved.

My Help Comes From the Lord

Because your help comes from the Lord, there’s nothing you can’t do as long as it’s within the will of the Father. To determine his will, you’ll want to sit and be silent and listen to what he has to say. It can be uncomfortable to sit in silence, so I encourage you to start with just a few moments each day and build up your tolerance for the silence. Before each time you sit in silence, ask the Lord that he would help you accomplish the things he’s set out for you. He’s the Maker, after all. He is with you and can help you do just about anything.

Father, thank you for being present in my life. Help me to recognize when and how you’re moving in and around me. I want to hear you speaking, so give me patience as I sit and listen for you. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
