Covenant of Peace [Isaiah 54:10 Daily Devotional]
This is another Old Covenant promise that still applies to non-Jewish people. The covenant God speaks of in this verse is different from the one we have now, though. At the time of Isaiah, however, the Jewish people lived according to the law given out by the Lord through Moses. The covenant we have now is through Jesus, and he died for us to forgive us of all our sins. Regardless, God’s peace isn’t shaken or removed no matter what happens around us.
Covenant of Peace
In order for you to have this covenant of peace never be removed, you have to accept the terms and conditions of the covenant. A covenant is simply a contract between two parties. In this case, it’s between God and us. The terms for our contract with the Lord are not complicated and are summed up by Jesus when he says, “Love the Lord your God [with everything you have], and love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37, my paraphrase). Once you can do that, you can rest assured that God’s peace will never be removed from you.
Jesus, thank you for your peace. I ask you for the strength to continue to live in the peace provided by your covenant. Help me to rest only in the promises you provide. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
