How to Live in the Peace of God [Philippians 4:9 Daily Devotional]

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

Philippians 4:9

Paul, the author of this letter, is encouraging us to put the things he does into practice. He experienced a lot of hardship, and it’s unlikely that we’ll ever suffer to the same extent Paul did, yet we can still learn from him in how he reacted to his situations. Paul, who went through some crazy things, wants the God of peace to be with us. That can happen only when we put into practice the things we’ve seen and heard from Paul.

How to Live in the Peace of God

So, what did Paul do? He prayed. When things were going poorly, he prayed and worshipped, and God moved. That same thing can happen today in and through you. When life isn’t going how you want it to go, pray. If you’re struggling to make ends meet, worship. God will move in your life when you do these things. It may not look like what you want it to look like, but it will be exactly what you need.

In fact, the end goal for you shouldn’t be for God to snap his fingers and solve all your problems. The goal is actually receiving God’s peace. So, breathe deep and allow the Holy Spirit to move in your life as you pray and worship.

Father, thank you for your peace. Help me to experience your peace every day as I seek you. Give me opportunities to share you and the everlasting peace you offer. It’s in Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
