The Just Shall Live by Faith [Romans 1:17 Daily Devotional]

“For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.'”

Romans 1:17

It’s through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus that we’re able to see the righteousness of God. It goes beyond that, though. Instead of just seeing the righteousness of God, we also become the righteous people of God – the just people of God. Through that sacrifice, we are now made whole in God’s sight. And “the righteous live by faith.”

The Just Shall Live by Faith

In order to do this, you simply must live the way God has told you to live. This is found in Jesus’s command to love God and love one another. You love God by loving one another, but you’ll also show your love for him through prayer and reading your Bible. These devotionals are a great start to reading the Bible, but I encourage you to start your own plan. My devotionals are not a full substitute for reading the Bible or praying on your own.

Loving one another requires you to serve one another and give generously. When you see your brothers and sisters in need, you should feel compelled to help however you can. I know this is challenging, but I also know you’re up to the challenge. Find an area in your church in which you can serve while using your talents and give your time and money to that church. Your local church is going to be the best place for resources to be pooled in order to make an impact in your community. Use it.

Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for bringing me into your righteousness. Help me to love you and love others well. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
