God Loved the World [John 3:16 Daily Devotional]

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Tomorrow is Christmas, and I couldn’t think of a more fitting verse than John 3:16 to kick off the day. We as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus not because he was just an important figure but because of what he did for us. He showed his love for us by paying for our sins and showing us a better way to live, and because of that, we’re able to live our lives to the fullest. All of this because God loved the world -including you and me!

God Loved the World – Applied

As you celebrate Christmas over the next couple of days, I want you to remember this verse when you do it. We all know that Christmas has become severely commercialized over the last couple of decades, but you can still celebrate it as it was meant to be celebrated.

Instead of greedily asking for more than you could reasonably want, give more than you think you can rationally give. Find some worthy cause to give to and bless them!

Instead of cursing out all the holiday traffic, thank God for the grace and compassion he’s extended to you. It’s because of that grace and compassion that we celebrate Christmas, and it’s worth always come back to during this season.

Jesus, thank you for coming as a human to show me how to truly live. Help me to take what you taught me through your recorded word and apply it throughout all of my life. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
