God is Your Strength [Psalm 73:26 Daily Devotional]
The psalm writer is pointing out a timeless truth here. Though we now have strength and completion in Jesus, we still struggle with our flesh. Though we fail, Jesus will never fail, and it’s in him that we find our strength. He will never fail us, even when we feel like giving up.
How to Apply God is Your Strength
Fully accepting Jesus into your life is the first step to applying this verse. Without Jesus, you’ll be still relying on your flesh and your heart, which can fail. With Jesus, you have his strength and can persevere even in your most trying situations.
Next, you’ll want to pray. Praying is simply communicating with God. You may never hear the audible voice of God (I haven’t) but he hears you. He may not answer your prayers in the way you think they should be answered, but at the very least you’re able to talk out what you’re feeling to someone who truly cares for you. Through that, God will clear your mind and provide you with the peace you need to carry on.
You can start having these kinds of conversations with God starting today. I encourage you to first truly accept Jesus into your heart if you haven’t, then start by praying this prayer.
Jesus, thank you for life. Help me to live my life in conversation with you. Instead of living a life consumed by my flesh and fragile heart, give me the courage I need to follow you without restraint. When I don’t know the words to pray, I ask that you would look deep into my heart and soul and pray on my behalf. It’s in your name I pray, amen.
